Chapter 3 of Surfing the Tsunami discusses AI's impact on the job market. Whether you are pessimistic about the impact of AI on the job market as it could replace jobs and further widen income inequality or optimistic as it could lead to greater economic growth and efficiency, it is impossible to argue a scenario where it won't be a part of our future.
In reality, I would expect the future of AI to be a combination of those good and bad outcomes. I think we are already starting to see a shift towards automation in various low skill jobs and I think AI will accelerate that by also replacing other more skilled jobs like in the accounting field for example. It makes me think about my future career more seriously as the job market could be vastly different 15 years from now. Algorithms are already integral to modern corporations and AI will only add to the scope and complexity of them.
