The fifth chapter of Surfing the Tsunami discusses the second level of responding to the future of AI; adoption. This refers to adopting AI related tools and platforms so you can be involved in managing AI. This should be done only after adequately familiarizing yourself with the subject in the first level.
With AI already being utilized by leaders of industry such as Amazon, digital assistants such as Apple's Siri, and is an integral facet of computing hardware companies such as Nvidia's newest products, a future without AI seems extremely unlikely. Resisting companies such as Amazon can and already has put many companies out of business. That is why it is important to be an advocate of AI within your company as it will allow it to keep pace with competition.
Adopting AI means also adopting automation. AI isn't at the point yet where it can fully take over people's jobs from start to finish. It instead is being used to greatly enhance efficiency, which is most obviously seen in speeding up routine work. Many workers look at how they can speed up or automate the mundane tasks that come with their jobs, AI is the next and smarter step in that process.
